Girolamo Zane (1475-1573), Venetian Senator, bronze medal by Andrea Spinelli, 40mm., hyero zane senat opt, bearded and robed bust left, rev. Saint Jerome kneeling before a crucifix, lion at his side (Armand I, p.156, 9; Heiss, Venise p.137, tav.IX; Kress 415; Voltolina 321), trace of die flaw on obverse, very fine, dark brown patina, rare Estimate £ 300-400 Andrea Spinelli (1508-1572) was born in Parma but was principally active in Venice. He used the same reverse with Saint Jerome for the medal of another Senator with the same first name, Girolamo Querini.
