Symonds, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, Killed in Action Flying in a ´S.O.E.´ Mission with 161 Squadron Over France, 20.9.1942 1939-1945 Star; Air Crew Europe Star; War Medal, extremely fine, in original card box of issue addressed to recipient´s father, ´R.C. Symonds Esq., 92, Park Road, Chiswick, London´, with named condolence slip (3) Estimate £ 200-250 Pilot Officer Michael Robert Symonds served during the Second World with 161 Squadron, Tempsford (Whitleys) and flew in his first operational sortie, piloted by F/S F. Mcl. Macdonald in Whitley Z6940, 20.9.1942, ´T/O Tempsford. Crashed in the vicinity of Boulogne´ (R.A.F. Bomber Command Losses of the Second World War, refers), all the crew were killed in action and are buried in the Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.
