Selwood, born 1906; Assistant Steward Discovery II during the first BANZARE led by Sir Douglas Moulson; joined National Union of Seamen 19.7.1930; later joined the Royal Navy and rose to the rate of Petty Officer; during World War II served in one of the ships which was sunk by the Graf Spee (British Polar Exploration and Research by Poulsom and Myres refers).
