A Great War 1917 Ypres ´Klein Zillebeke´ Casualty Group of Three to Second Lieutenant J.H. Humphrey, Attached 8th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, Late Middlesex Regiment 1914-15 Star (PS-1318. Sjt. J.H. Humphrey, Middx. R.); British War and Victory Medals (2. Lieut J.H. Humphrey), extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque ´ Joseph Herbert Humphrey´, and four photographs, three of the recipient, and one of the recipient´s grave (2) Estimate £ 320-380 Second Lieutenant Joseph Herbert Humphrey, born Norwich, 13.12.1892; educated Model School, Norwich; joined the 16th (Public Schools Battalion) Middlesex Regiment, 1.1.1915; served with the Expeditionary Force in France from October 1915; returned home in May, 1916; after a period of training at Gailes Camp, Ayrshire, Commissioned Second Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment; served as an Instructor of Physical Drill at Maidstone and Milstead; returned to France, attached 8th Battalion, August, 1917, and was killed in action at Klein Zillebeke, 20.9.1917. He was buried at Fusilier Wood Cemetery, Hollebeke, Belgium; his body was later removed and re-buried at Oxford Road Cemetery, Ypres, Belgium, 27.3.1920.
