Sydney James Briggs, R.A.F. ´For distinguished services in the Field in Mesopotamia.´ Warrant Officer Sidney James Briggs, M.S.M., prior to, and during the Great War served with the 2nd East Anglian Field Company Royal Engineers in the Egyptian Theatre of War from, 16.8.1915; Briggs attained the rank of Corporal before transferring to the Royal Flying Corps (No. 336426), 1917; after the Great War he continued his service as a Regular in the Royal Air Force, and was serving as a Flight Sergeant in the R.A.F. Depot, Middle East, 1935; awarded L.S. & G.C., 30.10.1935. According to recipient´s MIC Card he was initially authorised for a trio named to the R.F.C., however this was cancelled and not issued, the trio named to the R.E. being issued in it´s place.
