Medal 10.12.1878; served in South Africa June to December 1879, and is entitled to the South African Medal with clasp 1879; transferred to 1st Lancashire Militia, July 1880; transferred to the 4th Battalion, Royal Lancashire Regiment, March 1881; discharged March 1886, after 26 years and 98 days with the colours.
