Cavy.), toned, a few edge nicks, therefore nearly extremely fine, scarce Estimate £ 480-520 Major Francis Whitworth Russell, born Madras, India, 1829; educated at Cheltenham School; commissioned Cornet 4th European Light Cavalry, 1850; Lieutenant and Acting Quartermaster 1854; attached for service with the forces of the Rajah of Jheend, 11.8.1857-19.7.1858; Adjutant Mooltanee Regiment of Cavalry, from 19.7.1858; Captain 1861; Major 18th Bengal Cavalry, 1867; served as part of the Abyssinian Expeditionary Force (Land Transport Corps), 1867-68 (entitled to medal); posted 7th Bengal Cavalry, 1869; died from a fall from his horse at Jubbulpore, 16.1.1872.
