Cape of Good Hope 1865 (28 Oct.) envelope (200x138mm.) from Bombay addressed by Dr. David Livingstone to "Sir Thomas Maclear, Royal Observatory, Cape of Good Hope", headed "On Her Majestys Service", marked "Observation Book from Dr Livingstone 28 Oct 1865", showing Port Elizabeth c.d.s. (7.12) with, on reverse, despatch (in red) and another strike of the Port Elizabeth c.d.s.; the envelope with some light age stains and minor peripheral faults. Photo Estimate £ 1,500-1,800Note: Dr. Livingstone was in Bombay from September 1865 to January 1866 where he raised funds and prepared for his forthcoming expedition to Africa and was received by the Governor, Sir Bartle Frere.
