Queen´s South Africa 1899-1902, four clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Transvaal (3169 Pte. J. Hamilton, E. Kent Regt.), minor edge bruise, otherwise nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 70-903169 Private James Hamilton, born Montreal, Canada, 1868; worked as a Labourer at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, before enlistment. Served with the 4th Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment, before being discharged at his own request; Enlisted with the East Kent Regiment 14.8.1890. Served in India 2.3.1892-28.3.1898; took part in the Relief of Chitral 1895 (entitled to Medal and Clasp); Served in South Africa 22.12.1899-19.8.1902; Discharged 20.8.1902 after 12 years´ service with the Colours.
