A Scarce Second War ´Defence of Malta´ M.M. Group of Six to Lance Bombardier R. White, Royal Artillery, attached Special Air Service Regiment, Army Air Corps Military Medal G.VI.R. (833924 L. Bmbr. R. White. R.A.); 1939-1945 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence and War Medals, M.I.D. Oakleaf, good very fine or better (6) Estimate £ 1,800-2,200M.M. London Gazette 18.2.1943 833924 L. Bdr. Roger White, A.A. Regiment, Royal Artillery, The Recommendation states ´At....8.... Position during a period of intense dive-bombing attacks from the 15th March to 29th April 1942, this N.C.O. was a.a.\gunner. On the 19th April the position was dive-bombed on five separate occasions, during the first of which both N.C.O.s on his gun were wounded. He immediately took charge of the gun and kept it in action during the remainder of the day, coolly and efficiently engaging subsequent dive-bombers.´ 833924 Lance Bombardier Roger White, M.M., died 26.10.1943, and is buried in Bone War Cemetery, Annaba, Algeria. M.I.D. unconfirmed.
