A Scarce Maharajpoor Casualty Group of Three to Captain S.G. Newport, 39th Regiment Maharajpoor Star 1843 (Ensign Simon G. Newport H.M. 39th Regt.), with later straight bar and fastening clasp suspension, contemporary steel riband buckle and steel top riband bar; Crimea 1854-56, one clasp, Sebastopol, clasp loose on riband (Captn. S.G. Newport 39 Regt.), contemporarily engraved in serif capitals, pitted from Star; Turkish Crimea, British die, pierced as issued with ring, very fine (3) Estimate £ 600-650Captain Simon George Newport; commissioned Ensign 39th Regiment, 1841; wounded in action at Maharajpoor (29.12.1843); Lieutenant 1844; Captain 1854; after service in the Crimea he transferred to the 79th Regiment, shortly before retiring.
