Fanshawe, Chief Inspector of Post Offices, British Burma, Late 1st European Bengal Fusiliers Ghuznee 1839, reverse engraved in sans serif capitals ´Ensign R.W.H. Fanshawe European Regiment´, edge additionally engraved in running script, contact marks; Sutlej 1845-46, for Ferozeshuhur, one clasp, Sobraon, (Lieut R.W.H. Fanshawe. 1st Eurn. Bengl. Lt. Infy.), renamed in running script; India General Service 1854-95, one clasp, Pegu (Captn. R.W.H. Fanshawe. 1st Europn Bengal Fusrs.), renamed in running script; Indian Mutiny 1857-58, no clasp (Captn. R.W. Fanshawe,), very fine or better  (4) Estimate £   600-800Major Richard William Henry Fanshawe; commissioned Ensign 1st European Bengal Fusiliers, 1837; served in Afghanistan 1839-40 and was present at the storm and capture of Ghuznee; Lieutenant 1840; served in the Sutlej 1845-46, wounded at Ferozepore; Captain 1845; served in Burma 1852-53, present at the relief of Pegu; accompanied the Martaban Column to Tonghoo; invalided to Invalid Establishment 1.10.1853; served in the Indian Mutiny, for which he recieved his Majority, 1861; served as Chief Inspector of Post Offices, British Burma.
