London Gazette 14.11.1944 169542 Acting Flight Lieutenant Eric Moore D.F.M., 105 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve The Recommendation, dated 18.8.1944, states ´After carrying out many low-level daylight sorties, F/Lt. Moore has completed a further 68 sorties with Path Finder Force, 33 of these being marker sorties. He is a navigator of outstanding ability and has consistently displayed the utmost courage and steady concentration on the task in hand, whatever the degree of enemy opposition and however adverse the conditions.´ D.F.M. London Gazette 18.1.1944 950354 Flight Sergeant Eric Moore 105 Squadron The Recommendation, dated 24.11.1943, states ´On the night of 15th November 1943, Flight Sergeant Moore was the Navigator of an aircraft detailed to carry out an attack on Duisburg. During the run up to the target, the aircraft was heavily engaged by the defences and, as the bombs were released on the completion of an accurate approach, a shell burst close under the nose of the aircraft. Flight Sergeant Moore showed his usual exemplary calm and fortitude during the approach to the target and after the attack. He was of great assistance to the pilot on his return journey and his high standard of navigation under most difficult conditions undoubtedly contributed to the safe return of the aircraft and crew. Flight Sergeant Moore has completed 28 operational sorties, 10 of which were low-level daylight attacks. He has also carried out several marking sorties on heavily defended targets and been engaged on operational development work of the highest importance. The results he has obtained in this last capacity have been of very great value.´ Flight Lieutenant Eric Moore, D.F.C., D.F.M., born Sheffield, 1929; educated at High Storrs Secondary School, Sheffield; enlisted Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve 1940; posted I.S.S.
