Charles I, Worcester mint, Halfcrown, 13.35g., equestrian portrait of king walking left, of cruder linear style, horse with ears pricked forward and bushy tail, no ground below, rev. crowned oval garnished shield, with lion´s paws either side, FLORENT CONCORDIA REGNA, double annulet stops on obverse only, no mintmark (JGB 1145A (same dies); Allen C-13; N.2593; S.3102) on an irregular flan, lightly double struck on reverse, otherwise very fine for this, extremely rare with FLORENT legend Estimate £ 1,800-2,000PROVENANCE: J Witte, Sotheby, 13 April 1908, lot 252 H W Morrieson, Sotheby, 20 November 1933, lot 551 The Marshall collection, Spink Auction 167, 31 March 2004, lot 136 Only other example of this coin, with the FLORENT reverse legend, has been offered at auction in the last forty years - the Lockett/Bareford specimen sold by Stack´s, New York, 22 October 1981, lot 519.
