Charles I, Nicholas Briot´s coinage, Halfcrown, 14.76g., hammered issue, king in armour on ´Briot´s´ horse walking left, groundline below, rev. heavily garnished shield, m.m. triangle (over anchor on both sides) (JGB 733A (same dies); N.2307; S.2861) lightly double struck on obverse, weak on horse´s head and corresponding on reverse, otherwise almost very fine, very rare Estimate £ 800-1,000PROVENANCE: Purchased Baldwin, October 1996 Apparently struck from the same obverse die as the last with the mintmark overpunched. The length of the sword has been shortened and the legend alterations have been tidied up.
