Charles I, group IV, Halfcrown, 14.99g., Tower, type 4, king in armour on foreshortened horse walking left, tail flows between horse´s legs, rev. oval garnished shield, the arms inverted within the garniture, m.m. triangle in circle (JGB -; N.2214; S.2779) a very fine, clear example of this curious error, very rare Estimate £ 200-250POVENANCE: Purchased M Rasmussen, October 2003 There was another example in the Osborne collection, lot 169 and a third in the Thames find, Baldwin´s Auctions no.14, lot 345. All are struck from the same reverse die and this coin is, by some margin, the finest of the three.
