Charles I, group III, Halfcrown, 14.65g., Tower, type 3a1, king in armour on unadorned horse left, scarf flies from king´s waist, rev. oval garnished shield, m.m. triangle (over anchor on obverse) (JGB 340 (this coin); N.2209; S.2773) lightly double struck on reverse, on a small flan, otherwise an excellent portrait piece, very fine or better, a very rare mintmark for this type Estimate £ 200-250PROVENANCE: Dr E Burstal, Glendining, 15 May 1968, lot 276 J G Brooker, SCBI 33, no.340 In the Dr Burstal catalogue the mintmark, triangle, is noted as apparently unrecorded for the type. No other example appears to have been sold at auction
