Charles I, group III, Halfcrown, 14.52g., Tower, type 3a1, king in armour on unadorned horse left, scarf flies from king´s waist, rev. oval garnished shield, reads CHIRSTO (sic), m.m. tun (large on obverse) (JGB 336 (this coin); N.2209; S.2773) weak on king´s head, otherwise as struck, on an unusually full spread flan, attractively toned, with extensive golden/blue lustre, good very fine, the error rare Estimate £ 250-300PROVENANCE: JG Brooker, SCBI 33, no.336 The obverse mintmark appears to be overstruck, possibly to correct the same mintmark which has been punched, less deeply, vertically rather than horizontally into the die
