James Whitworth in Cape Town and redirected to London, rated "1/-" and marked "Paid 6", showing "post office/Crown/grahams town", "post-office/cape of good hope" oval d.s. and framed "returned from" (applied in London). The letter gives detailed advice on the prospects for a missionary station in Natal, reference to Delagoa Bay, the writer's "experience of Kafferland", the impossible dangers of travel through "Kafferland & Tambookieland", tribal wars, ivory trade etc. Facinating reading and in very fine condition
