x A Marquess´s Coronet A silver-gilt coronet (HM London 1936), the band bearing alternate pearls and strawberry-leaves, with white fur edging, red velvet cap and gold worked tassel, white quilted satin internal headband and lining, the upper part inscribed fortnum & mason, london in gold lettering. Estimate £ 2,500-3,500This coronet was almost certainly manufactured in preparation for the coronation of Edward VIII/George VI. It seems possible that it was made for a marquess whose title had not been created by the time of the prevous coronation in 1910. Possible owners would include Lord Willingdon, a former Viceroy of India, the last marquess to be created before the 1937 Coronation.
