Williams, Mate.); St Jean d´Acre Medal, silvered copper, pierced as issued with contemporary silver ´wire´ suspension, very fine or better (2) Estimate £ 700-800Commander Richard Williams, Royal Navy, born 22.2.1807. Joined the Royal Navy as Mate in 1831; Served in H.M.S. Thunderer during operations on and off the coast of Syria- "officially noticed and promoted for his service on the Coast of Syria, and bombardment of St. John D´Acre"- 4.11.1840. Promoted Lieutenant same day; Commander 10.10.1855; Agent for Mails 31.12.1860; retired 5.11.1864.
