Crime and Punishment Punishment Transportation 1836 (1 Oct.) entire letter from England to a man in Hobart Town (he was lodging with an ex-convict who had received his ´Ticket-of-Leave´, the addressee was probably also an ex-prisoner); 1837 handwritten Police ´pass´ allowing a convict to travel from his road-gang to another assignment at Ross (V.D.L.); 1828 ´Hobart Town Gazette´ newspaper which includes a list of convicts granted a ´Ticket-of-Leave´ or Pardon; 1830 handwritten muster list accounting for the whereabouts of convicts in Richmond (V.D.L.) – one man, John Farrow, was noted as having been absent after having visited a local inn where he had been ´treated´ to a glass of rum by a free man (the convict and landlord of the inn were both fined); a fascinating and well written-up group Estimate £ 200-250
