Crime and Punishment Punishment Transportation 1822 (11 May) entire letter from a solicitor in Liverpool to an M.P. in London, fine red ´crowned´ Free c.d.s., the letter being a request of reprieve for Samuel Jones who had been wrongly convicted and was awaiting transportation – another man, Thomas Rimmer, had confessed to being the guilty party after he was arrested for a different crime. Also 1822 ´Free´ front addressed to Robert Peel in London, inscribed ´Report Prisoners under Sentence of Death´. Interesting accompanying details. Photo Estimate £ 200-250
