Crime and Punishment Prisons Military 1719-1942, the selection with 1719 entire letter from Worcester to a Captain of the 43rd Regiment regarding a soldier held in detention; 1873 printed War Department document detailing the arrest of a deserter from the 35th Regiment of Foot who was being held at Stafford Gaol; 1916 envelope to a military prisoner held at Teignmouth Detention Room; 1915 envelope with oval ´military prison in the field´ h.s.; 1940 envelope to an Italian held at Saughton Prison in Edinburgh (presumably an internee - Italian P.O.W´s were not present in Britain at this time); 1942 envelope from an R.A.F. officer in Barlinnie Prison with original letter enclosure; 1951 envelope from a Chaplain in Fort Leavenworth (U.S.A.) military prison to England (interesting enclosure); 1956 envelope used locally in Gibraltar with oval ´colonial prison/gibraltar´ h.s., the enclosure gratefully acknowledging receipt of ´a ping-pong table´; mostly fine.
