Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Small Silver Medal, 38mm. (Capt. William Horman. S.S. "Maryland" For The Rescue Of The Crew (12) Of The "Capenhurst" 9/9/94), extremely fine, with its silver riband buckle Estimate £ 120-140 ´A Silver Medal and vote of thanks to Captain William Horman, S.S. Maryland, for having, on the 9th September, 1894, rescued the crew of the barque Capenhurst (twelve in number), which vessel had encountered heavy gales in the Atlantic Ocean, and having become waterlogged and totally disabled, had to be abandoned.´ (56th Annual Report of the Committee of the Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society 1895 refers).
