Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Small Silver Medal, 38mm. (Geo. H. Adamson. 2nd Mate Barque ´Decapolis´ For Having Made Five Trips In Boat To Rescue Crew Of Ship Eblana, Oct 10. 1878), suspension claw loose, minor edge bruises, therefore good very fine, without its silver riband buckle Estimate £ 80-100 ´A Gold Medal to Captain Thomas Michael Almond of the barque Decapolis, for having skilfully rescued the crew of the ship Eblana, which vessel was thrown on her beam ends and dismasted during a gale in the Bay of Biscay on the 10th September 1878. The crew of 22 men were with great difficulty rescued by the boats of the Decapolis, in six trips, which occupied more than twelve hours. The following awards were also made to the officers and crew of the Decapolis for this rescue, viz:.......A Silver Medal and £5 to Mr. George Adamson, second mate, who made five trips to the Eblana´.
