R.); British War and Victory Medals, campaign medals mounted as worn, extremely fine, with related group of five miniature awards, a pair of East Yorks collar badges and two colonial bullion collar patches (10) Estimate £ 240-280 O.B.E London Gazette 3.6.1930 'For his services as a Travelling Commissioner in Gambia, whilst employed by the Colonial Office' Captain Ernest Benjamin Leese, O.B.E., born Faversham, Kent; joined the Imperial Yeomanry 1900, served with the Regiment in South Africa 1900-01, and was present at the actions at Buddulphsburg and Wittebergen; discharged 1901; 2nd Lieutenant 3rd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, 1902; Regimental Instructor of Musketry 1903; Lieutenant 1903; Captain 1905; seconded for service under Colonial Office, appointed to West African Field Force, 1905; Company Commander, Gold Coast Regiment 1908; Special Reserve of Officers 1909; Private Secretary and Aide de Camp to the Governor of the Gold Coast 1910-1911 on special service with the Gold Coast Regiment throughout the Great War, and in the Cameroons Expeditionary Force, 1915-16.
