Texas. Mt. Carmel Center Trade Currency. 1 Cent, 5, 10 (red), and 50 (2, white and buff) Cents. Waco 1938. Cardstock. Lion walking forward; Value stars around and clock vignette. The Branch Davidians issued scrip in 1 Cent to $10 denominations in the 1930s. The clock vignette on these pieces is close to striking midnight as this group believed the apocalypse and Christ's return was imminent. Continuing the work of the break-away Seventh Day Adventist Victor Houteff, a Bulgarian emigrant to the US, these Branch Davidians were not associated with the later Branch Davidians of David Koresh that were raided by the ATF in 1993. The Rare 1 Cent with a number of edge scuffs, VG; the 5 Cents and the buff 50 Cents VG-Fine; the 10 Cents and white 50 Cents EF. [5]
