A Victorian Officer's Uniform of the 14th Hussars A good and very rare Full Dress tunic of pre-1881 pattern, the collar bearing Lieutenant's Crowns in silver embroidery; a companion pair of trousers, of fine blue cloth, with twin stripes of gold regimental lace; a dark-brown fur busby, with triple cord and yellow bag traced with narrow gold French braid, gilt corded chain, crimson cotton lining and leather internal headband with silk upper element adjusted by a drawstring, with its calico bag and cylindrical tin bearing plaque inscribed G.B.C. Yarborough, 14th Hussars (busby now lacking its plume and plume-socket); and a fine set of four corner devices from a shabracque, now laid down on a rectangular blue cloth edged with twin gold lace stripes, all in a metal trunk (lot) Estimate £ 1,200-1,800 Note: George B. Cooke Yarborough was commissioned into the 14th Hussars in July 1866. He also served with the 1st West York Yeomanry. He does not appear in the 1874 Army List.
