Great Britain 1840 (7? Jan.) entire to Settle, the address panel with superb strike of the handstruck "4" of Hawes in blue (only recorded in black), the reverse with corresponding small circular undated "hawes" in the same colour, with faint strike of the black "West Burton/Penny Post" alongside; slightly split and strengthened filing fold well clear of the strike. Only two examples of this marking in blue are recorded of which this is the finer, the only other known Uniform Fourpenny Rate numeral struck in blue is that of Halifax. Photo Estimate £ 1,500-2,000
