Charles I, Tower mint, Shilling, 6.00g., group C, type 2b, m.m. plume, third bust, bust 2, bust of king wearing ruff and plain armour left, small crown, reads brit fr et hib, rev., oval garnished shield, Welsh plumes dividing c r above, five pellets after christo and either side of mintmark, four pellets after avspice (Sharp C2/4; c.f. JGB 453-5; N.2222; S.2784), a piece of "Fine Work", weak on king's shoulder, and corresponding on reverse, otherwise evenly toned, extremely fine, very rare Estimate £ 1,250-1,500 provenance:
