Great Britain. An early-20th Century Royal Artillery officers' Colonial Pattern sola topee or 'pith helmet'. Possibly Boer War, 1899-1902. White cloth skull, brass curb chain around body and ball finial to top, brass Royal Artillery badge to front with partial red cloth backing, interior with brown leather sweatband, green lining to fore and rear peaks, and silver foil lining to upper, this element in somewhat relic condition. An attractive example of a classic item of British colonial headdress. Good Very Fine
