Banque du Congo Belge, Belgian Congo, unissued obverse proof 5 Francs, ND (ca. 1926-1928),
obverse proof does not conform to any banknote listed in Pick or the Banknote Book. The proof is blue and white, without a date or signatures, and features a central vignette portrait of a man native to the Belgian Congo. Also includes postcard featuring double photograph from which the man's head is derived.
The postcard is an interesting artefact itself, the portraits of two men from the Ababua tribe (now known as the Boa people of the DRC), are presented with accompanying text "Types Ababua". This postcard is a part of turn of the century trends of assigning other cultures easily categorisable "types", making the cultures of non-Western nations more digestable to a Western audience
(not similar to any listed notes in Pick or the BNB), as made, rare
