Titus. Oval plaquette. Bronze, 94.5 x 118mm. D TITVS VESPA-SIAN, High-relief, laureate, and armored bust of the emperor left as seen from the back; point-textured field. From a series of Roman emperors and their wives, the emperors are based on eleven paintings by Titian [the twelfth by Giulio Romano] that were once in the Gonzaga collection [now destroyed].
