Two signed by Levitt Luzern Custer, inventor of the statoscope: June 29, 1934 - asks to be observer of Stratosphere flight; July 5, 1934 accepts appointment as official observer for Stratosphere flight; March 8, 1924 two-pages typed on US Navy Century of Progress Chicago letterhead, signed by Major Chester L. Fordney, Marines, Scientific Observer, Stratosphere Balloon, proposing Lt. Commander Settle for the NAA gold medal for the Stratosphere flight of Nov. 20, 1933; letter signed by Frank Purdy Lahm (1952); handwritten letter on "Windy" Smith Fliers letterhead, July 31, 1922 from Leon D. Smith to William P. MacCracken Jr. thanking him for information sent -- "it certainly helped us win to win our case" [for air trespassing] along with typed letter from Hornblower, Miller & Garrison forwarding MacCracken a copy of a Windy Smith Fliers letter sent to the Aero Club re: the case; May 14, 1929 War Department letter to NAA re: Gordon Bennett Trophy race; also unrelated B&W photos of Astronaut John Glenn, Chuck Yeager, JFK holding aviation trophy, Richard E. Byrd and Byrd Expedition seaplane. Fine.
