1939 Collier Trophy Award. Collier Trophy Award Diploma, Washington. D.C. Dec. 19, 1940. Awarded to the "Airlines of the United States for their high record of safety in air travel, with special recognition to Doctor Walter M. Boothby, Doctor William Randolph Lovelace II of the Mayo Foundation for Medical Research and Education and to Captain Harry C. Armstrong [printer's typo, should be Harry G. Armstrong] of the U.S. Army Medical Corps at Wright Field. Signed below in blue by President Gill Robb Thilson - Founder of the Civil Air Patrol, and Secretary G. deFreest Larner (WWI flying ace); along with Autograph Letter Signed "Harry G. Armstrong". One page, Toronto, Canada, Nov. 16, 1940. Armstrong acknowledges deFreest Larner's letter and expresses his "deep appreciation" to the NAA and "everyone connected with the Trophy for the great honor which has been bestowed upon" him. "I shall attend the presentation at the White House". Major General Harry George Armstrong, 1899-1983, was a pioneer in the field of aviation medicine. The Armstrong Limit is named after him.
