1926-1927 Collier Trophy Awards. 1) Cover letter from the Wright Aeronautical Corp., Jan. 11, 1927 and six-page memorandum proposing the Development of the Wright Whirlwind Engine for the 1926 Collier, with NAA Jan. 31, 1928 Press Release noting that the 1927 Collier was awarded to Charles L. Lawrance for the Wright Whirlwind Engine; 2) One-page typed letter from Commander Richard E. Byrd presenting a claim for the 1926 Collier Trophy for machinist Floyd Bennett, USN and listing his achievements. Unsigned, with unsigned response from the Committee; 3) Two-page typed application for the 1927 Collier trophy signed by Charles L. Lawrance as President of Wright Aeronautical for the Wright Whirlwind engine, Jan. 10, 1928, with newspaper clips of the awarding of the Collier to Lawrance. Fine.
