1925 Collier Trophy Award. Two awardee recommendation Letters. Two pages, typed, on Curtiss Aeroplane & Motor Co. letterhead, Jan. 12, 1926 from aviation pioneer Frank Henry Russell. Russell recommends the development of the Curtiss airplane and seaplane racers, which had already won the Pulitzer and Schneider Cup Races for the 1925 Collier. He signs below as Vice President of Curtiss "F.H. Russell". With copy of Committee's acknowledgement letter. Ledger punch holes at top; One page, typed, on Stout Metal Airplane Company letterhead, Jan. 8, 1926 from William Bushnell Stout, groundbreaking aviation pioneer inventor. Stout recommends Edsel Ford for the trophy for the establishment of commercial aviation - development and manufacture of Stout Air Transport, establishment of Ford airport, successful operation of the Detroit-Chicago and Detroit-Cleveland airlines, and originating first aerial Reliability Tour. He signs below "Wm. B. Stout". Ledger punch holes at top, with copy of the Committee acknowledgement letter (edge tears); also Western Union telegram, Washington, DC Jan. 31, 1926 from aviation pioneer Edward P. Warner to Porter Adams - hopes Collier Committee "will not fail to give consideration to aeronautical work of Massachusetts Institute of technology", especially for its recently completed dynamometer and automatic balances.
