Dress Tunic, Mess Dress Jacket, Wolseley Pattern Foreign Service Helmets and Field Service Cap of Colonel R.W.H. Middlemass. Ca. WWI-1930. Small to medium. Dark navy tunic with pale buff facings and light gold embroidery, twisted shoulder cords each with two embroidered rank stars and crown; Indian Army Service Corps collar insignia, Supply & Transport Edward (VII) Rex buttons, gold with black piping sash with gold bullion buckles, and belt with Supply & Transport Corps buckle; navy trousers with pale buff piping; Dark green, near black Mess Jacket with pale buff facings, gold embroidery, pale buff and gold shoulder stripes each with two embroidered rank stars and crown; Edward VIII insignia added later at collar, gold-trimmed gray vest with embroidered thistles; White (with spike) and Buff Wolseley Pattern Foreign Service Helmets. Size: 8 7/8. By A & NSCI, London and Hawkes & Co, Ltd. The latter with Middlemass' name inked inside; and Field Service Cap with insignia by Ranken & Co, Calcutta. Middlemass served with the 6th Jat Light Infantry during the Boxer Rebellion; during World War I, he was captured by the Turks at the siege of Kut in Mesopotamia. He survived the Death March (in which half the captured died) and was repatriated December 16, 1918. Middlemass retired in 1930 as Inspector of the Indian Army Service Corps. Normal wear.
