Rosewald, Julius (1862-1932). American businessman and philanthropist; best known as part-owner and leader of Sears, Roebuck and Company and for establishing the Rosewald Fund, which donated millions of dollars in matching funds to support the education of African-American children in the rural south; appointed to the Chicago Commission on Race Relations in 1919; principal founder and backer of the Museum of Science and Technology in Chicago. Document Signed "J Rosewald" as Vice-President of Sears, Roebuck & Co. Typed one-page Annual Contract of Indemnity to the Maine Central RR Co. and the Washington Co Railway Co. in the sum of $2,000. Rosewald signs in green twice below, as Vice-President and as Surety. Notary seal. Paperclip stain upper left, otherwise Very Fine.
