Roosevelt, Theodore. 26th President of the United States (1901-1909), Vice President (March-Sept. 1901) at time of McKinley's assassination he become president at age 42 - still the youngest president in US history; born sickly with a debilitating asthma, he immersed himself in a strenuous and adventurous lifestyle overcoming his health problems and assuming a robust persona; Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Governor of New York; champion of "Square Deal" policies. Document Signed "Theodore Roosevelt". Folio, Washington D.C., May 24, 1904. Appointment of William P. Huxford (SEE: previous lot) as "Major, retired". 'The President of the United States of America' title and eagle at top. Roosevelt signs bottom right, Robert Shaw Oliver signs to the left as Acting Secretary of War. Embossed blue paper seal bottom left, recorder's notation upper left. Pencil notation verso. Very light foxing, minor edge nicks, with some bruises on bottom edge. Rolled. Very Good; accompanied by a partially printed West Point Army Mess card, August 27, 1897, granting "the privileges of the Club" to Major Huxford at the request of "Lieut.
