Ringling Brothers. Sons of German immigrants, five of seven brothers - Albert, Otto, Charles, John and Henry performed skits and juggling round Wisconsin in the early 1880s; expanded acts into a one ring show in 1884 - Ringling Brothers World's Greatest Shows; purchased the Yankee Robinson Circus in the same year, took over the Forepaugh-Sells Brothers Circus in 1906 and purchased Barnum & Bailey's Circus in 1907; merged the two in 1919 into Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Documents Signed individually by three of the brothers, Charles, Henry and Albert. Three Ringling Bros. checks -- March 18, 1912 for $7 signed "Henry Ringling"; Nov. 8, 1913 for $2.75 signed "Al Ringling"; and April 29, 1915 for $10.50 signed "Chas Ringling". All with attractive vignettes - portraits of the five brothers, tiger and wood building. Very Fine. [3]
