Porter, David Dixon (1813-1891). US Navy Admiral, began naval service as a midshipman at age 10 under the command of his father Commodore David Porter on the frigate USS John Adams; served in Mexican War, and the Civil War when he was raised to Rear Admiral in command of Mississippi River Squadron which worked with Army in the Vicksburg Campaign, led naval forces in Red River Campaign and joint assaults on Fort Fisher; Superintendent of the US Naval Academy. Autograph Signed "David D Porter Admiral". On cut lined paper, 5 ¾ x 2 ¾". Framed with image of Rear Admiral Porter aboard the USS Malvern, 7 x 9". Very Fine.
