Hill, James Jerome (1838-1916). Canadian-American railroad executive; known as "The Empire Builder", in the 1880s built railroads across Minnesota into Wisconsin and across North Dakota to Montana, expanded into a transcontinental railroad in 1893 when his Great Northern Railway running from St. Paul, MN to Seattle, WA was completed. Document Signed "Jas. J. Hill". Partially printed Proxy Blank, St. Paul May 14, 1894. Hill as a stockholder in the Mason City and Fort Dodge RR Co. appoints Samuel S. Reed as his proxy at the annual stockholders meeting. Crease and corner bend with light nibbling. Fine.
