Texas. The Government of Texas. Second issue Warrant, $16.61, Velasco, August 11, 1836. Cr. V2. No. 291. Printed and written. Pay to: "James Lash", his endorsement an "X" on back. Lash was a Texas Ranger serving under Lt. B.R. Thomas, in Col. Coleman's Regiment. Signed by Asa Brigham, Alcalde of Brazoria, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, as Auditor. Four months later he was appointed as the Republic's first treasurer; in 1842, he became mayor of Austin. Listed as R-9 by Shull. EF. Professionally deacidified and conserved with museum quality, archival materials.
