Russia. Elizabeth (1741-1761). Award Medal for the Victory at Kunersdorf, 1759. Silver, 40mm. By Timofey Ivanov. Crowned and mantled bust right, rev. Warrior in classical armor standing right, holding Russian flag and spear, bodies, weapons and fallen Prussian flag lie in battlefield. Bit 554, Diakov 105.1, Sm 241a. Looped. Awarded to participants in the Battle of Kunersdorf, the decisive battle of the Third Silesian War (and part of the Seven Years War) which saw Friedrich II of Prussia's army suffer a devastating defeat at the hands of Russian and Austrian forces under Generals Pyotr Saltykov and Ernst Gideon Laudon.
