D.F.M. - "London Gazette, Sept. 21, 1945: "Flight Sergeant Brown has completed 40 operations against Germany, including 18 over Berlin, as Navigator of a Mosquito aircraft. By his cooperation with his pilot, coolness and devotion to duty, he has contributed in a large measure to a very successful series of operations and, in recognition, is recommended for the non-immediate award of the Distinguished Flying Medal."
Andrew Brown, who presumably was active earlier in the Coastal; Command, began his operational career with the 128th Squadron in September 1944, the same month that the squadron was reformed at Wyton as a Mosquito light bomber unit in the 8th (Path Finder Force) Group, part of the P.F.F. Fast Night Strike Force. In this capacity, Brown went on to complete his 40 operational sorties against German targets.
A scarce WWII DFM group. Accompanied by copy of his recommendation for the D.F.M., but M.I.D. unverified. Good Very Fine-Extremely Fine. Ex DNW Auction, Sept. 23, 2011.
