Roald Amundsen (1872-1928). Silver-plated spoon honoring him for reaching both Poles. By Magnus Aase, Oslo, 1928. 130mm length. Portrait left of Amundsen on handle, star above, date 14-12-28 and aeroplane below. SYDPOLEN 1911 NORDPOLEN *1926 on bowl. On December 14, 1911, Amundsen and a team of four other men, along with 16 dogs, reached the South Pole. He reached the North Pole aboard the "Norge" in 1926, see above. Six months after the date of this spoon, Amundsen, along with five crew members would disappear forever while flying on a rescue mission in the Arctic. Choice.
