Depew, Chauncey M. (1834-1928). Attorney for the railroad interests of Cornelius Vanderbilt, President of the New York Central Railway System, New York Senator (1899-1911). Autograph Letter Signed "Chaucey M. Depew". One page on folded 8x10, Peekskill (NY) Jan. 2, 1862. Depew writes promoting the bearer of the letter to a position on the police force. Fine-About VF; also, 1912 "Irrevocable Power" form for Alice C. Vanderbilt (wife of Cornelius), surviving trustee under the will of Cornelius Vanderbilt transferring 1,528 shares of Preferred Capital Stock of the Chicago & North Western Railway Co. to Alfred G. Vanderbilt, signed by Chauncey M. Depew, Alice C. Vanderbilt, her daughter Alice G. Vanderbilt, son Reginald C. Vanderbilt, and grandson W.K. (William Kissam) Vanderbilt; along with a cut and cancelled Chicago & Northwestern Railway Co. 1900 certificate for 6,250 shares issued to W.K. (William Kissam) Vanderbilt, and a Pullman Company 1907 Boston Certificate for 10 Shares issued to Howard C. Vanderbilt. Fine-VF. [5]
