Great Britain. Victorian era Light Cavalry Officer's Sword. Rankin & Co., Calcutta. 32 ½" steel blade, etched panels with Queen's crown and cipher, brass Proved disk on front ricasso, maker's mark on back. Three-branch steel guard (one forking) with fish skin-wrapped grip and triple wire binding, open-work crowned and suspended horn on hilt. Steel scabbard with two carrying rings. Mottling on scabbard, which is a bit tight for blade. A fine sword.
